Paint Porn
Whilst we are on the subject of colouring, the amplifier case came with black, plastic corner protectors which I decided to paint metallic blue. These were cleaned and rubbed down with fine wet & dry paper. I had also purchased a new carry handle (you can’t be too careful!) and the screw covers were also to be painted metallic blue
I converted a large cardboard box into a spray booth which could be closed to prevent workshop dust getting onto the wet paint, and gave the corners and screw covers a coat of plastic primer. This, when dry, was smoothed down with fine grit wet & dry. Several further coats of the metallic blue paint were then applied.
Creative had been quite specific that they wanted a blue theme for these promotional machines - it is, after all, one of their corporate colours, so blue it is! And what a nice shade of blue it has turned out to be.
All the screws for the corner caps were also primed and painted. Once all the paint had cured, several coats of clear lacquer was applied, which brought the paint up to a beautiful mirror finish. Time for a cup of tea I think.
In the meantime, here is a glimpse of what is to come…
Let's get it on...
